ROADASSIST+ collects only the information necessary to provide you with emergency roadside assistance services. The types of data we collect include:
- Account Information: Full name, email address, and password (stored in encrypted form).
- Contact Information: Phone number (required for service providers; optional for customers).
- Location Data: GPS coordinates collected when you actively use the app to request or provide a service.
- Vehicle Information: Make, model, year, colour, and license plate number of registered vehicles.
- Service Records: Details of roadside assistance requests including service type, location, status, timestamps, and associated technician or client information.
- Insurance Information: Policy number, insurance provider name, and expiration date — if you voluntarily link an insurance policy.
- Profile Data: Profile bio, service radius, and pricing details (for service providers).
- Notifications Data: In-app notification records including titles, messages, read/unread status, and timestamps.
2. Why We Collect This Data
We collect your information for the following legitimate purposes:
- To create and manage your account securely.
- To match clients with available roadside assistance technicians.
- To share your location with the technician assigned to your service request.
- To calculate distances between service providers and clients.
- To send you real-time status updates about your ongoing service job.
- To maintain a service history for your reference.
- To enable insurance policy verification for eligible claims.
- To help technicians set and display their service pricing transparently.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively to operate and improve the ROADASSIST+ service:
- Dispatching the nearest available technician to your location.
- Enabling live map tracking of the assigned technician's position.
- Sending push and in-app notifications about job status updates.
- Generating and sharing a 6-digit verification code to confirm on-scene arrival and service completion.
- Displaying your completed service history within the app.
- Allowing technicians to respond to your service request and contact you via the phone number shared.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data collected by ROADASSIST+ is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform built on PostgreSQL. The following security measures are in place:
- Row-Level Security (RLS): Database records are protected at the row level, meaning users can only access their own data.
- Encrypted Credentials: Passwords are never stored in plain text; they are managed through Supabase Auth with industry-standard hashing.
- HTTPS/TLS: All data transmission between the app and our servers is encrypted over HTTPS.
- Session Management: Authentication tokens are stored securely on-device using encrypted local storage and automatically refreshed to reduce the risk of session theft.
While we take significant measures to protect your data, no online system can guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to log out of the app on shared devices.
5. Third-Party Services
ROADASSIST+ integrates with the following third-party services to deliver its features. Each of these services has its own privacy policy and data handling practices:
- Supabase — Backend database, authentication, and real-time data sync. Data is stored in Supabase-managed cloud infrastructure.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — Used for reverse geocoding (converting GPS coordinates to city/area names). Only your coordinates are sent to this service; no account information is shared.
- Overpass API (OpenStreetMap) — Used to query nearby EV charging station data based on your current GPS location.
- Leaflet.js — An open-source mapping library used to render the live tracking and EV station maps within the app. No data is sent to Leaflet servers.
- Insurance Partners — If you link an insurance policy, your policy number and provider name are used for digital verification. Data shared is limited to what is required for verification.
6. Authentication and Account Information
Account authentication in ROADASSIST+ is handled through Supabase Auth. When you create an account:
- Your email and password are used to create a secure authentication record.
- A user profile is created containing your name, role (customer, technician, or trucker), phone number (if provided), and status.
- Authentication sessions are persisted securely on your device and are automatically refreshed to keep you logged in.
- You may change your password at any time from the Settings section of the app.
- You may update your name and phone number from the Settings section.
We do not support social media login (Google, Facebook, etc.) at this time. All accounts require a valid email address.
7. Location Data
Location access is one of the core features of ROADASSIST+. Here is exactly how we use it:
- When You Request Help: Your GPS coordinates are captured and shared with nearby available technicians so they can navigate to you.
- When You Are a Provider: Your location is used to display your position on the client's live tracking map during an active job.
- EV Map: Your location is used to query charging stations within a 15 km radius.
- Dashboard Context: Your city or area name is displayed on the home screen for your reference.
Location is only accessed while you are actively using the app. ROADASSIST+ does not use background location tracking. You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will limit core app functionality.
8. Uploaded Content and Profile Data
Service providers may optionally provide:
- A profile bio describing their expertise and services.
- A profile photo (avatar URL).
- A service radius in kilometres.
- Fixed pricing for each service category they offer.
Customers may optionally provide:
- Vehicle details (make, model, year, colour, licence plate).
- An insurance policy number and provider name.
This information is stored in our secure database and is only shared with the other party (client/technician) during an active service job to enable communication and navigation.
9. Notification Permissions
ROADASSIST+ sends you in-app notifications for important service events, including:
- A new service request being received (for technicians).
- A technician accepting your request (for clients).
- Service job status changes (en route, arrived, completed).
- Completion confirmations from either party.
Notification records are stored in our database linked to your user account and are automatically marked as read when you open the Notifications screen. You may review all past notifications within the app at any time.
10. Analytics and Diagnostic Data
ROADASSIST+ collects limited, anonymised service performance data to improve the application, including:
- Average response times calculated from completed job records.
- Count of active service requests in a given time window.
- Error logs generated by the app for debugging purposes.
This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. We do not use third-party analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel) in the current version of the app.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. Specifically:
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Service Job Records: Retained to maintain your service history. Records are accessible to both the client and the technician involved in the job.
- Notification Records: Retained for 90 days after creation.
- Location Snapshots: GPS coordinates captured at the time of a job request are stored as part of the service job record and are retained alongside the job record.
After account deletion, your personal profile data (name, email, phone) is permanently removed. Job records may be retained in anonymised form for service quality analysis.
12. Your Rights
You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

Upon deletion:
- Your profile information (name, email, phone number, role, avatar) will be permanently deleted.
- Your vehicle records and insurance information will be permanently deleted.
- Your notification records will be deleted.
- Your authentication credentials will be permanently revoked.
Service job records may be retained in anonymised form for platform quality and safety purposes for up to 90 days after deletion, after which they are fully purged.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app's functionality, legal requirements, or our data practices. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
